Learning How to Bounce Flash

DSC_0431DSC_0428

Learning to bounce flash was one of the coolest things I have learned with photography. It’s all about experimenting but the results are awesome, especially for nighttime photos!

The important things are to point your strobe towards a wall or light area that can bounce your flash to your left or right. However, make sure that your subject cannot see the flash or it’ll give you direct flash. For that, turn your strobe to the left or right just a bit more towards yourself. Also, make sure your light is bouncing off in the direction your subject is looking.

For this kind of work you should set your ISO to 400 or more, depending on the ambient light conditions. Aperture should be as wide as possible and shutter speed matters only  when you want to show more or less of the ambient light. Your strobe should be on half or full power and zoomed all the way.

Experimenting with those things on your camera will help you find the best results.

The lighting in your pictures will come out smoothly and look super cool!
